Eric Rippert is Full of Promise

Maria-Neil-Rippert-Crash

In a body of work born from the broken boxes of old photographs portraying family vacations, important events and poignant moments, Eric Rippert is sharing not only a deeply personal story, but also a common narrative of the way the American Dream was imagined during the 1970s. His upcoming exhibition at Maria Neil Art Project, ‘Full of Promise’ tells these stories through prints, photographs, installations, and more.

Moving from the metaphorical toy world of his previous photographs, the new work exposes a more literal world of real experience. By reconstructing episodic memories, Eric explores how past experiences inform the present. He brings viewers to the sources of the drama; the images, industry, inventions, dynamics, culture and drive that fueled both the ideals and the hidden discontent of the 60s and 70s.

This will be Rippert’s first exhibition as a part of his representation by Maria Neil. Work will be featured in two galleries, the main gallery and in the Annex at Native Cleveland. In early 2017, the gallery will publish a catalogue of Eric’s work from this exhibition and throughout his career.
