Born Laura Mangual in 1973 in Brooklyn, New York and raised in a small town, Chambersburg, PA and currently living in Cleveland, Ohio. Lolo, a nickname given to her by a friend, is what she likes to be called and what her artwork is signed as. “My art is as deep as my heart ever digging and looking to understand love and all that it entails in every facet of my life. This is what drives me to paint and it’s what draws others to respond to my work because they want to understand this as well. “ Lolo’s art exploration began at Schenley High School in Pittsburgh, PA where she was taught to paint with acrylic and it’s the medium she paints with today. “Like writing or talking, I want to make my point quick. I don’t like waiting long periods of time to paint. The feelings flow through me and onto the canvas. “ She has been a part of the Euclid Art Association and the Creative Artists Association in Cleveland, Ohio to get more acquainted with her passion in 2003-2008. Social media has been where she has built her career and sells her art. Her love for connecting with people to share her thoughts, love and wisdom through her positive words to sharing her paintings has gotten her connected to collectors all over the United States. She is now represented by the Mac Worthington Gallery of Contemporary Art in Columbus, Ohio which has been recently recognized as the Best Gallery in Columbus for 2016. “I didn’t ask for this life. It chose me and I am going with it. I am grateful to have been asked by Mac to come on board and be a regular artist that is now showing monthly at his gallery. The opportunities are endless if you always see the glass half full. I am never thirsty. “ Most recently, she sold her painting, I Paint My Feelings at the Bombay Sapphire Artisian Series at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, Michigan. \"That painting is so special because it was the last one I did before my mother passed away on October 25, 2016. This was the same day I had to drive from Cleveland to Detroit to drop off my painting. It was so surreal, but I know my mother wouldn\'t have it any other way.\" Lolo is currently engaged to her biggest fan and support, Michael and living in Cuyahoga Fall, Ohio and finished her second solo show, called, The Journey to Truth and Wisdom, in May 2017 and now is set to participate in Art Prize in Grand Rapids, Michigan in September, showing, Carmen, the painting she did of her mother, which incorporates some of her ashes as a part of the universe .
