Irma Withani’s The Venus Collection at Loganberry

Works of Irma Withani celebrate the female form at all stages of life

The Annex Gallery at Loganberry Books celebrates artist Irma Withani’s “50 Years of Art Jubilee” with an exhibition of The Venus Collection. The show will feature a series of paintings depicting nude and semi‐clad female forms in a diverse variety of shapes.

Inspired by the natural beauty of the human body, Withani illustrates its transformation over time and captures the loveliness of the shape in isolation, absent the head and feet. By excluding the subjects’ faces, personality is removed from the image, exposing only the character of the naked pose. Because the artist generally considers feet unattractive, they are also cropped, so as not to distract from the smooth and elegant contours of the torso and limbs.

Representing ideals of beauty begun thousands of years ago—apparent in ancient goddess figurines, Renaissance nudes, and modern‐day media standards of attractiveness—The Venus Collection celebrates the inherent beauty of the female figure at all ages and stages of life. The Venus series promotes positive body image by recognizing the pure outer aesthetic appeal evident in every curved line, shape, and shade of different body types.

Retiring from a long career in fine art and graphic design, Withani now offers her signature series for sale. All pieces on display will be available for purchase, along with select pieces from her Cosmic and Landscape collections. The artist’s portion of sale proceeds will be donated to local charities.

Coinciding with National Women’s History Month, the exhibit will run from March 1 through March 30, with an opening reception from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, March 4.
