BAYarts: Celebrating 10 Years
This year BAYarts commemorates ten years of art programming and community engagement with special events showcasing some of the highlights of the past decade.
In addition to art education and cultural events, under the discerning eyes of BAYarts directors and countless guest curators BAYarts gallery exhibitions have featured hundreds of artists from across northeast Ohio. Two accessible galleries, each with a distinct vibe make it possible to offer a diverse palette of shows: The Sullivan Family Gallery has gained a reputation as a world class showcase for professional, collaborative and experimental exhibits, and The Dianne Boldman Education Gallery highlights emerging artists, faculty and students.
To commemorate BAYarts tenth year, a unique exhibition brings together ten artists who have held solo shows and continue to define the talented BAYarts artist community: John W. Carlson, Douglas Max Utter, Liz Maugans, Edward Beyer, Judy Takacs, George Kocar, Marsha Sweet, Mary Deutschman, Jeff Yost and Judith Brandon. Many of these artists – Carlson, Takacs, Maugans, Deutschman and Yost– have been instrumental in developing BAYarts education programming, having taught here as well.
The exhibit “10” opens with a reception from 7 – 9 pm July 8 and continues through August 8 in the Sullivan Family Gallery.
