Mind Creatures, Wrestling Entropy, and Masumi Hayashi at CSU

Three new exhibitions will be opening on January 15th at The Galleries at CSU.

Mind Creatures: The Amazing World of Marvin Jones features prints, paintings and 3D works from various periods of Jones’s career—from early, meticulous etchings influenced by underground comics and the Chicago Imagists of the 1960s to lithographs bearing the immediacy of primitive, “outsider” art and digital prints that represent some of the last works he created.

Only Human: Wrestling Entropy features works by E.D. Taylor – thoughtfully crafted collage paintings and sound sculptures addressing themes of the human condition. E.D. works with all kinds of media exploring the psychological cabinet of curiosities that is contemporary culture.

Place and Vision: The Artistic Legacy of Masumi Hayashi features works by the late CSU Professor of Art who taught photography in the Art Department from 1985 until 2006. Masumi’s large-scale panoramic collages include subjects such as Superfund Sites, the city of Cleveland, Japanese relocation camps, sacred architecture, and more. Curated by Michael Gentile, Masumi’s friend, colleague, and collaborator of many years.
