Beck Center Exhibits Celebrate Hispanic Cultural Heritage Month

Beck Center for the Arts is collaborating with the Hispanic Cultural Center to host the second annual Hispanic Heritage, Hispanic Art, a contemporary exhibition featuring the distinctive works of local Hispanic artists. The vibrant works in a variety of mediums will be on display September 6 through October 6 , 2013 in the Jean Bulicek Galleria at Beck Center. An artist reception will take place from 5:30 – 7:30 pm on Friday, September 20, 2013

The inaugural, 2012 Hispanic Heritage, Hispanic Art exhibition featured the unique works of thirteen artists. That momentum continues in this second annual exhibit, with many artists returning including Bess Rodriguez Richard, Augusto Bordelois, Hector Castellanos, and Martinez Garcias. Works by ceramic artist Angelica Pozo will then be exhibited from October 11 through November 20, 2013.

For the second year, Beck Center will also host Esperanza’s Youth Artists, an exhibition that has grown out of a series of summer workshops led by artists from American Greetings. Different artists have guided the youth-program participants from Esperanza, Inc., a local non-profit that promotes Hispanic educational achievement. The young artists explored a variety of artistic techniques, including mask making, collage, and block printing. Esperanza’s Youth Artists will run concurrently with Hispanic Heritage, Hispanic Art in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
